One Layer Please

Hello, and happy  Sunday to you! Today starts another challenge at Sunday Stamps!  This week we are playing with a one layer sketch.  Here's challenge #98: And here's what I made: I started with a white piece of cardstock in which I stamped all the images in V ersamark ink and embossed with W hite embossing powder .  I then sponged Bermuda Bay ink onto the cardstock starting at the bottom. When I was finished sponging the panel, I colored the flowers using my discontinued Blendabilities.  To finish it off, I added rhinestones and ribbon. Supplies: So now you have seen my one layer card.  Lets see what you create.  Head on over to Sunday Stamps! and join in the fun!  :)   Happy Stamping!

Love is Kindness

Hello, crafty friends.  Today I am sharing a card  I made using the " Love is Kindness " single stamp from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I was trying to make a clean and simple card with a lot of white space.  Here's what I came up with: Stampin' UP! ink colors are: Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzleberry, Gumball Green (retired) and Tempting Turquoise.   Here's how I created it:  I sponged the colors onto a piece of white cardstock. I then spritzed it with a water bottle and dried it with my heat tool.  When it was completely dry, I stamped the image and added some "spots" from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set .  The paper was kinda curled from the water and subsequent drying, so I layered another piece of paper behind it to help it lay flat. :) I added a little piece of "mock stitching" from a retired embossing folder and a Scalloped Edge Border in Tempting Turquoise. Will that punch ever get old? :) The main panel is stamped...

SSC#97: Color Challenge

Good morning crafty friends! Today I am sharing a card I made for Sunday Stamps! challenge #97. Here's the challenge: Isn't this inspirational picture cute?  I love Mr. Fox sticking his head out of the tree.  So darn cute! Unfortunately, I don't have ANY fox image stamps. Go figure?!  So, trying to follow the challenge the best I could, I was left with the tree and the colors.  The ink colors I used were: So Saffron, Black, White and Cajun Craze (to match the fox).   Remember: you can use any shade of colors that ou have on hand that are similar to the photo. Here's what I came up with: For the background, I watercolored with So Saffron and Cajun Craze ink refills and added circles using my white craft pad following the Bokeh technique from the Splitcoast Stampers website.   I then stamped images from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in Black and Cajun Craze. The sentiment is from the Hostess Set called Bloom with Hope and the small butter...

SAB: For Being You and Blendabilities

Yesterday, Stampin' UP! announced that they would no longer be selling Blendabilities.  This is due to the manufacturer being unable to meet Stampin' UP!s high quality testing requirements prior to shipping. As a result, and to prevent further disappointment in the markers, they have been discontinued. I was so hoping (as I am sure all of you were) that they would be able to fix the quality issues. I know that many of you have these markers, as I do.  I will continue to use mine even though they are discontinued and I encourage you to use yours since you have invested in them as well.  Chris Smith (my upline) has a post HERE sharing what she has done to her "dry" Blendabilities.  I encourage you to check it out and see if this helps your markers down the road, if needed. With that being said, I did make a few cards (before knowing this revelation) using the new SAB set called " For Being You ". In a previous post HERE , I talked about how you don't ...

200th Anniversary!

The Friday Mashup challenge blog is celebrating their 200th challenge! I just had to play along!  You can choose 1 element from 2 different past challenges, or mash it up and use both elements from the 2 different past challenges.  I choose challenge sketch #21, and the "create a kid themed project" from challenge #9. And here's what I made: I used my retired and timeless Button Bear stamp set and combined him with the balloons from the Birthday Bash stamp set , and the awesome Confetti Stars Border punch.   Colors are: Soft Suede, Island Indigo and Real Red. I have the perfect little someone (my nephew) to give this to. :) Head on over to the Friday Mashup and join their 200th challenge celebration!  Happy Stamping!

FMS 176: Happiest Birthday Wishes

Hello!  Happy Friday!  It's been a very long week for me over here as I have had a nasty head cold and finally decided to go to the doctor today.  I hope the medicine kicks in asap and that I wake up tomorrow feeling somewhat closer to normal.  Getting sick is one of the drawbacks for being a substitute teacher- but I love the kids I get to spend time with. :)  Today I have a money holder birthday card to share.  It follows the challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches. Here is the sketch challenge: And here's what I made: And here's the inside:   Colors are: Crushed Curry, Night of Navy, and Pumpkin Pie.  I used the Crazy About You stamp set with the Hello You Thinlits Bundle and the matching Medallion punch . The designer series paper is Flowerpot from the annual catalog.  Basic Rhinestones were colored with my Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities .  Ribbon is the Tangelo Twist 3/8" Stitched Satin .   Product Links: ...

Just Add Ink #252: HB

Hello, crafty friends! Here is a card I made following the sketch layout over at Just Add Ink . I have never made a card with an angel, so decided I needed to give it a try.  My color pallet came from the Best Year Ever DSP from the Sale-a-bration catalog. Colors are: Soft Suede, Crushed Curry and Coastal Cabana.  Don't these colors look awesome together?!  And notice the "HB"?  after stamping the image with Soft Suede ink, I colored it with my Coastal Cabana Blendabilities.  Notice that the ink didn't smear? Yep, you can use several Stampin' UP! inks as your base instead of Memento Black ink.  Below is a list provided by Stampin' UP! indicating which ink pads work with Blendabilities. Look at all the ink pads you can use----29 to be exact! Here's the list: Always Artichoke, Baked Brown Sugar, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Crips Cantaloupe, Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Hello Honey, Marina Mist, Melon Mambo, Lost Lagoon, ...

Petal Potpourri meets All Abloom DSP

Hello, stampers, its time for another new challenge over at Sunday Stamps!  This week we have a fun sketch for you.  Here it is: And here's what I created using the Petal Potpourri stamp set and matching Medallion flower punch from the Occasions mini catalog: I stamped the beautiful flower image twice in Island Indigo and punched them out. I then paper snipped around the petals and pinched the petals together to give them some dimension.  I also stamped the flower image with Mossy Meadow ink and paper snipped 2 of the petals out to make the leaves.  My color pallet used to make this fun card came from the All Abloom paper stack which can be found on page 185 of the annual catalog.  Colors are: Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Mossy Meadow and a splash of Pistachio Pudding (sequins and Thick Bakers Twine).
