With Love and Caring

Hello, crafty friends.  Yesterday, my husband and I attended a funeral for one of our church members who passed away after sustaining injuries from hitting a deer while driving his motorcycle.  He was only 53 years old. We have known him and his family for a very long time and yesterday's service was difficult.  Of course I brought a handmade sympathy card for the family, but after seeing the grief their daughter was in, I decided I needed to make another card to send to her specifically.

I wasn't feeling very creative- but today I actually had time to stamp- so darn it- I was bound and determined to create something!  I went to the first challenge I saw- Just Add Ink and decided I would start there.  Here's their challenge:

Next, I opened my annual catalog and started flipping through the pages starting on page 1.  I found the Graceful Garden on page 23 and that is how this card and its colors came about. :)  That's why I love challenges! They basically guide you in a direction which I find helpful if you are in a creative slump.

I embossed the Rose with Silver Embossing powder and colored it with my Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends. I added the background image using Mint Macaron ink that was first stamped off onto scratch paper. I then sponged Crumb Cake ink around the edges of my Whisper White layer followed by Crumb Cake splatter marks.  Lastly, I stamped my sentiment using Soft Suede ink.  To finish off the card, I added Linen Thread and Silver Metallic Pearls.  Notice how I used the Subtle TEIF again??  I can't stop using it!  It's such a fabulous embossing folder.

Impressions a Bloom for Sunday Stamps!

Happy Sunday!  Right now I am knee deep in making decorations for my daughter's upcoming baby shower next weekend and the theme is Winnie the Pooh! lol :)  I am going to be a grandma for the first time and all I can say is that I am really is exciting! I forced myself to clear off my stamping table (well actually just push stuff away) and created a floral card for this weeks new challenge at Sunday Stamps!  The Impressions  a Bloom Bundle is one of my newest favorite sets and I really have not had time to create with all of the very many different ways you can with this set.  Here's my 2nd go. Soft pastel colors? Count me in!  And these petals exemplify the softness you can achieve with the Impressions a Bloom .  For these flowers, I stamped 2 in Peach Pie ink followed by Timid Tiger ink. The 3rd flower was stamped using Fresh Freesia ink. I first stamped off onto scratch paper and then used full strength for the detailed/outline stamp. Next, I d...

Perfectly Pears for Sunday Stamps!

It's Sunday and today starts another new challenge at Sunday Stamps! Yahoo!  I love card challenges because it makes you think outside the box and at the same time gives you something to create with whether it be a color challenge or a sketch challenge.   For this weeks creation, I focused on the new Online Exclusive Bundle called Perfectly Pears .  This bundle is part of a suite and the products in the suite are gorgeous.  For this particular creation, I focused on the adorable set of pears and a few of the coordinating dies. I stamped the outline set of pears image using Pecan Pie ink and then stamped the solid part of the pear image using Darling Duckling ink which also had some Timid Tiger ink sponged onto it as well. I then took my Darling Duckling and my Timid Tiger Stampin' Blends and outlined some of the edges of the pears to add more depth to each Pear. Next, I colored the leaves and stem using Old Olive, Mossy Meadow and Pecan Pie Stampin' Blends...
