March Paper Pumpkin Alternatives

Hello, crafty friends. Today, I am sharing a few alternative ideas for you using the March Paper Pumpkin called Poppy Birthday.  This fun kit contains supplies to make 8 birthday cards that have cool pop-up inserts.  The colors in the kit are: Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and Poppy Parade.
Paper Pumpkin kits are awesome, in that you can assemble the projects very quickly and not worry about being creative.  Plus, with all the needed adhesive provided in the kit, you can assemble the projects just about anywhere at any time. But I think what I love most is that I can be creative and change up the projects to suite my crafty needs/wants.

Here are a few alternative ideas for you.  The first one uses the striped gray and white card base.  I cut it in half and made a card and a matching gift card holder with the remaining 1/2 piece.

I wrapped a 5/8" x 8" Bermuda Bay belly band around to hold the flap of the gift card closed.  Here is a picture of how I cut and scored the gift card holder:
I took the leftover 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" gray striped card base and scored it at 1", 3 1/2" on the long side and 1/4" on the left and right side of the short side as shown above.  I then cut up the 1/4" line to the center panel as shown above.   You will add adhesive to the outer 1/4" flaps and fold the panel on the bottom up to assemble it.  I used a corner rounded on the 1" flap and also punched a partial circle on the bottom flap before assembling.

Here's another idea using the other patterned card base:
Again, I cut the speckled card base in half and made a full sized card using one piece and then I cut the other in half (2 3/4" L x 4 1/4" W) and used one piece for another card and the other piece for a small card that could be used as is or as a money/gift card holder again.
For this card, I did use the balloon image from the bonus FREE stamp set in the March Paper Pumpkin kit.  To avoid fussy cutting, I used the Balloon Bouquet punch and then added some White Bakers Twine for the balloon's string.

For the second card, and sticking with the theme colors, I added a Poppy Parade piece to the top that was embossed with the Simple Stripes Embossing Folder and a Daffodil Delight circle using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  To make the smaller card, I simply took a 7 1/2" x 4 1/2" piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock and scored it at 3" and 6" on the long side.  This left a 1 1/2" flap that I used for the inside of the card.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing these super simple alternative ideas for the March Paper Pumpkin.
And soon there will another cool Paper Pumpkin to stamp with.
